Be welcome to our 50Y windsurf expo during the weekend of 17 and 18 May.

There was no shortage of sun and people at Surfers Paradise for the inauguration of the artwork marking 50 years of windsurfing in Knokke-Heist and in Belgium.

David DeBusseré had transformed 4 retro surfboards by Frank Vanleenhove into 1 colourful scene with each board representing a subject of his works.
Mayor Cathy Coudyser was all too proud of the history of windsurfing and the 5 water sports centres and in the municipality, Alderman for Sport and Tourism Bert De Brabandere beamed and former minister Marc Verwilghen, himself an avid windsurfer today, was also in attendance.
Add to this a whole delegation of "old" and new windsurfers who brought back many memories and even old pictures and you know it was a very successful event.
Frank Vanleenhove thanked the municipality for the years of support, the WWSV federation and the FOS transport and mobility for the current legislation at sea and all windsurfers for the 50 wonderful past years, concluding that at least 50 more could be added.

The artwork can be admired at the entrance to Surfers Paradise and will certainly remain there throughout the season.
