Surfers Paradise traffic plan

Dear all !

No doubt you have already heard about the Knokke-Heist heat and mobility plan.

For those who have read diagonally in the press: Knokke-Heist is certainly not going to be closed and everyone will of course remain welcome, but the plan is, when it gets very busy and all the parking spaces are taken up, to keep the centre accessible only for adjacent residents.

Fortunately, Surfers Paradise is not in the city centre but along with the public works currently all over the municipality, we think it would be useful to suggest a traffic plan for you to enjoy your beach and water sports session to the maximum.

If you come before 12h then there is no problem, if you come after 12.30h and don't need to be in the centre then this is the way to go when you drive into Knokke-Heist via the N49:

  • At very busy times: first roundabout turn towards Sluis along Sluisstraat. At the roundabout, take a left into Kalvekeetdijk. Then take the third street on the right: Kalfstraat. Follow this further along Boslaan. At the first roundabout, turn right into Eikenlaan until you reach Oosthoek. Depending on the works, there will be a slight diversions via Fort St Pol and Spaanse laan, after which you take a right onto Zoutelaan. A little further at T-junction turn left on Bronlaan. Follow Bronlaan until you take a right onto Zwinlaan. Now you can already smell the sea. Park as close as possible to the Appelzakstraat and Surfers Paradise within walking distance. If you have a lot of equipment with you call 050/615960 for shuttle service.
  • In case of heavy traffic: Continue to the second roundabout, turn right onto Kalvekeetdijk, then take the second left: Kalfstraat. Continue see very busy
  • If you drive any further you have to be sure of your piece. If you find yourself in a traffic jam, turn right at the first traffic lights into Nieuwstraat and then continue straight ahead via Smedenstraat and Jan Devischstraat, via Graaf Jansdijk into Boslaan. If you want to beat the lights, the ultimate escape is via Carrefour car park.

Good luck and cu on the beach , the sooner the better !
