Surfers Paradise sees young talent rise to the very top: Milo Desmedt is taking the surfing world by storm and outshining all his French rivals!

Some stories begin on the beach at Knokke-Heist and continue amongst the best waves in Europe. This is certainly true of Milo Desmedt (9), a proud member of Surfers Paradise and one of the greatest Belgian surfing talents of his generation.

Milo is the son of Anton Desmedt, Beach Master (2008, 2009 and 2010) at Surfers Paradise. From a young age, Anton decided to follow his dream. He swapped the beaches of Knokke-Heist for the world-famous surfing region of Hossegor in Les Landes, in south-west France. There, he developed BoardnBreakfast, a surf house where a passion for surfing, hospitality and the ocean come together.

That brave decision is paying off today. Whereas last winter Anton was literally pushing his son into the waves, Milo is now surfing at a level that makes his father admit, with a smile, that he has overtaken him.

Growing up amidst the powerful waves of Les Landes, with a strong surfing culture and professional support, gives Milo every opportunity to further develop his exceptional talent. But just as important is his immense enthusiasm. For him, surfing is not a chore, but a pure passion. His eagerness to learn is impressive: almost every month, he takes another big step forward.

This is also reflected in his results. This season, Milo won every race there was to win in his U10 category. Not only did he remain unbeaten in every race he entered, but he also won every heat.

• Aquitaine U10 Champions
• Winner of Les Têtards in Biarritz

As well as his competition results, Milo is constantly seeking out new challenges. For example, he recently surfed the famous big-wave spot La Nord for the first time. His next personal goal? To land his first successful air reverse this year. But his main goal remains the same: to have fun on the water, without any pressure.

Experienced surfers and coaches also recognise his exceptional potential. From this summer onwards, his development will be further nurtured step by step with professional guidance from coaches and former professional surfers, including the Belgian surf coach Lars Musschoot. In addition, Milo will spend part of the winter on Fuerteventura to continue training in optimal conditions.

Nevertheless, one principle remains central: surfing must, above all, remain a source of enjoyment. And nobody needs to worry about that. Anyone who sees Milo on a surfboard can tell straight away where he is happiest. The ocean is his playground, his second home and the place where he feels completely free.
