What a moment. What an acknowledgement.
On 14 March 2026, Surfers Paradise was officially declared Sports club of the year in Knokke-Heist. A title of which we are immensely proud - and which we especially want to share with everyone who is part of our community.
A crowning achievement for an intense year
2025 was anything but a quiet year for Surfers Paradise. On the contrary: it was a season full of energy, events and growth. From our established classics to brand new initiatives - each time it was all hands on deck.
With a team of about 15 permanent staff and as many as 150 job students during busy periods, together we have built something we can be proud of.
Events that continue to grow
Our calendar was once again packed with highlights. Think:
- the very first Winter dive
- the traditional Easter dive & Easter burble
- Mommy's Day, Daddy's Day and Ladies Day
- Grommet Day for the youngest surfers
- the Lifeguard Games
- the King of the Beach volleyball tournament
We also organised new initiatives such as the first beach paddle tournament and we were pioneers with Hyrox on the Beach, meanwhile, a global hype.
Collaborations and impact
We strongly believe in collaboration - and this is reflected in everything we do.
Together with partners and the municipality, we realised, among other things:
- the Watersports Day and the Watersports festival
- the Summer school
- an expo and artwork around 50 years of windsurfing in Knokke-Heist
In addition, we extracted world champion Mark Shinn to Knokke-Heist for a unique Foildrive clinic and supported the C-Water project for potable water in Madagascar.
More than just sports
Surfers Paradise is not just about action on the water. It's also about people.
This is how we organised:
- a free sports day for underprivileged children
- a G-water sports day
- water sports camps for 910 young people
- school sports days with almost 2900 pupils from all over Flanders & Brussels.
And of course, safety always comes first. With 104 rescues and dozens of first aid interventions, we proved once again how important a well-trained team is at sea.
Ready for a new season
With this award in our pocket, we look ahead.
The 39th season is upon us and the energy is greater than ever.
- More than 600 members have already re-registered
- The camps are once again filling up well
- And from 4 April we are open every day again
Whether you come for a first surf lesson, a camp, an event or just the atmosphere: everyone is welcome.
See you soon at the beach
This title is not an end point - but a motivation to build on.
To our community, our passion and our love of the sea.
