Every year, Surfers Paradise in Knokke-Heist organises a sports day for people with disabilities. This year on Wednesday 19 June 2024!
Together with Wind & Watersport Vlaanderen, we would like to make surfing better known, also among people with physical, auditory, visual or mental disabilities. With material and sessions fully adapted to everyone's needs.
The activities are generally wave surfing/boogie boarding and/or stand up paddle boarding. This on the sea, but within the breakwaters, so close to shore and up to about hip height of an adult. All participants will receive a life jacket.
Wave surfing is a sport in which we go onto the water with a board and ride the wave standing upright.
Boogieboarding is a sport in which you ride the waves with a softer, smaller board in the prone position.
Stand up paddle boarding is an activity with a large voluminous board on which you can stand upright or in a knee position. You can propel yourself with a long paddle. We have larger boards where the instructor can go on them together with the participants.
Programme:
All sessions include an aloha welcome, initiation on the water & drinks afterwards.
