Book launch 'The Sea that Gives' at Surfers Paradise

Yesterday, the iconic surf club formed Surfers Paradise the atmospheric backdrop for the book launch of "The Sea that Gives", the latest work by Joachim Meire.

In this book, Meire highlights the influence of water - and the sea in particular - on our mental and physical health.

No better location could be imagined than this surf club, where the rhythm of the waves, the salty sea air and the sand under bare feet seamlessly matched the soul of the book. Joachim Meire, all-round water sportsman, breathing coach and yoga teacher, previously became known to the general public through his appearance in the popular programme "Calm Waes".

It was Tom Waes himself who opened the evening during a breathtaking sunset.

Joachim then introduced his book, followed by testimonies from two people he interviewed for the book: Tom Cocle, head rescuer at the Beach Rescue Service in Blankenberge, and Marte Greefs of the marine nature restoration organisation Go Ocean.

Frank Vanleenhove, founder of Surfers Paradise and passionate water sportsman, contributed a chapter to the book as a lifelong thalassophile. Although he could not attend due to his daughter's proclamation, he enthusiastically made his surf club available for this special event.

The Sea that Gives, with a foreword by Tom Waes, is published by Borgerhoff & Lamberigts and is in shops now. Joachim previously wrote, among others Yoga with EvyThe No-Nonsense Book and the bestseller ADEM.
