No plans yet? Here are 7 reasons to visit Knokke-Heist during the autumn half-term.
1. Getting some fresh air on an almost deserted beach
No overcrowded beaches, no hunting for that one spare spot in the sand. In autumn, you’ll almost have the coast to yourself. A brisk walk along the beach with the children, the dog or friends, searching for shells along the water’s edge or simply walking for miles with the wind in your hair: sometimes a day by the sea doesn’t need to be any more complicated than that.
2. Experience the North Sea in its autumnal splendour
In autumn, the North Sea often reveals a completely different side to itself than it does during the summer months.
Stronger winds, bigger waves, spray and rapidly changing skies create a stunning backdrop. For water sports enthusiasts, this can make things all the more exciting: when the wind and conditions are just right, kitesurfers, windsurfers and wingfoilers are out in full force.
3. Put on your wetsuit
For true water lovers, October certainly doesn’t mean the season is over.
On the contrary.
With a good wetsuit and the right conditions, autumn can be a brilliant time to get out on the water. Whether it’s surfing, SUP, windsurfing, kitesurfing or wingfoiling: when the wind and waves are on our side, the North Sea remains our favourite playground.
4. Turn your walk on the beach into a proper workout
Don’t fancy sitting still whilst on holiday? Then turn your walk into a little beach workout. Take a brisk walk through the loose sand, stroll along the water’s edge for a bit, do a few squats or lunges along the way, and let the sea breeze do the rest. Or simply stick to a long walk towards the Zwin and back. That’s fine too.
No stopwatch, no records.
5. Discover Knokke-Heist on two wheels
Cycling is one of the best ways to explore Knokke-Heist and the surrounding area. Cruise along the coast, cycle towards the Zwin, explore the polders or go on a longer ride with the whole family.
And when your legs start to feel a bit tired? Then you know just where to go for a stop-off by the sea.
6. From the North Sea to Lakeside
A day out in Paradise doesn’t have to end at the North Sea. Combine it with Lakeside Paradise and discover our second water sports spot in Knokke-Heist.
Sea vibes at Surfers, lake vibes at Lakeside. That’s how you can make your autumn break a real Paradise Day try out and discover two completely different sides of water sports in Knokke-Heist.
Team Sea or Team Lake? We’ll just choose both.
7. Warming up in Paradise
After a long walk on the beach, a refreshing bike ride or a few hours spent outdoors, something warm always tastes just that little bit better.
We’ll be open during the autumn half-term, so do pop into Surfers Paradise to take a breather and soak up that classic beach club atmosphere.
Outside, the wind may blow and the North Sea may be rough. Inside, we keep the Paradise vibes alive.
Summer ends, but Paradise doesn’t.
There’s something special about autumn by the sea. Everything slows down a notch. The beach becomes quieter, the air crisper and the sea rougher. Gone are the summer crowds, leaving plenty of space to be outdoors, get active and rediscover the joy of the simple things. So don’t wait for a perfect blue sky during the autumn half-term. Put on your coat. Grab your walking boots, bike, wetsuit or surfboard. And head for the seaside.
Surfers Paradise is open every day during the autumn half-term holidays from 11.30 am to 6.00 pm.
