At the press presentation of the Eneco Clean Beach Cup 2022 in Bredene, Joyce Vanleenhove could, after waiting for a long time, finally receive this trophy due to well-known covid reasons.<\/p>

Surfers Paradise succeeded in mobilising the most volunteers during the post-season beach clean-up. On Sunday 12 September 2021 no fewer than 175 volunteers came to clean up the beach between Surfers Paradise and the Zwin estuary.<\/p>

Joyce Vanleenhove: \"Of course we are very happy with this recognition because we do a lot to keep the beach clean. We do not only sensitise our visitors and members, we also try to sort waste as much as possible and not to use disposable packaging where possible. Also, every year we have the \"take 3 for the sea\" campaign where we urge every beach visitor to pick up at least 3 pieces of waste, no matter how small. We also have a special rubbish bin for people coming back from Zwin to Knokke-Heist with rubbish, because we are usually the first place they come across.<\/p>

In fact, Knokke-Heist should have received this trophy earlier because the counting was done per water sports club, while in Oostende, for example, there is only one club and in our seaside resort we divide the cake between 4 participating clubs...Nevertheless, we are proud of our achievement and we invite everyone to the next edition on 20 March, where we want to gather as many volunteers as possible from 13:00 to give our 2 km strip a good clean, although it must be said that throughout the year the municipal cleaners do a lot of work, especially after each storm with wind from the sea.\"<\/p>

So everyone be ready on 20 March 2022 from 1 p.m. for the annual beach clean-up at Surfers Paradise. An educational trip - beach walk for young and old.<\/p>
